Jim O’Brien is originally from New York where he founded and played in several bands. Jim moved to Nashville, TN to record a cd with his band Plain Jane with Producer Tony Palacios. Upon completing their cd, Plain Jane toured for several years across the United States playing alongside bands: Barlow Girl, Disciple, Sonic Flood, and Justified to name a few. Plain Jane played several festivals while they toured, Creation, Crossroads festival, were highlights for the band.
Plain Jane’s debut album won several awards including:

- Rock Song of the Year (2004) “Gravity” – (Written By: Jim O’Brien & Jozi Miller)
- Modern Rock/ Alternative album of the year (2004) – Plain Jane “Anything but Plain”
- Modern Rock/ Alternative Song of the Year (2005) “What Can Separate Us” – (Written By: Jim O’Brien & Jozi Miller)
After several years of touring, opportunities presented themselves for Jim to produce and record various artists. Thus began the start of Studio 2212!
Jim fell in love with the studio the very first time he stepped foot in a recording studio in New York. He was hooked! After several years, of honing his craft and working with great engineers and producers who taught me how to record. Jim opened the doors to Studio 2212.
